Issue - No way to reset beat counter to "0" after song stops

Postby muscanto » 10 July 2019, 02:43

Support-

I'm in the middle of implementing the beat speed to all of my scenes that are controlled by MIDI from another program. I'm running into an issue where I have no way to reset the beat counter to "0" before starting a new song. (Assuming I am using the timing of 4/1) If the previous song stops on any beat other than 4, the next song ends up changing steps on the wrong beat.

Can you please add a MIDI shortcut in the live settings that resets the beat counter to "0" in the software. I can trigger a note at the start of every song to reset the counter to "0" and that would fix my issue unless you have another way to accomplish this?

Please advise-
Thanks

Noted.
But using one more midi message for that looks a bit "heavy" ; especially regarding GUI.
We will check about other possibiities.

This is the best idea I could come up with as a solution without making it complicated or affecting other features.

I hope this makes sense and would be easy to setup:

We are not able to offer a solution for the next request "No way to reset beat counter to "0" with the mouse".
and also the next one ""No way to reset beat counter to "0" with the keyboard".

Hi-

I'm not looking to be able to do this with a keyboard or mouse, I need to reset it with MIDI at the start of a new song to ensure that beat "1" is truly beat "1".

Another option to fix the issue is make sure that a scene or button being trigger is relative to "1' regardless of where the beat dot is on the visual counter. So if I start a button and the dot is on the 3rd dot, the software acknowledges that it's still beat "1" even though it's on dot number "3." at the first beat trigger with the button engaged.

Does that make sense? I will try and make a video later outlining the issue.

Not you ; this will be another user.

Noted.
It is not possible to force that for all scene buttons, but this may be an option.
We study this possibility.

If there was an option to turn on for each scene that at button trigger, it treated the next beat from the beat trigger as beat 1, that would work perfect and solve the issue.

I only have a handful of scenes that follow the beat and they are mostly color and intensity changes but they must line up with beat 1 of the song being played or they don't work.

Thanks!

We made a test.
Each scene has its own "pulses for Beat" counter which is resetted when the scene is started.
This mean the counter starts always at zero.

Could you please post a video illustrating the problem ?
