Add timeline (or media files) to Sequential Lists

stack scenes and play them with a "GO" button

Add timeline (or media files) to Sequential Lists

Postby socalmagic » 24 November 2016, 04:46

My shows mostly utilize timelines. Therefore, I would like to be able to add timelines to the sequential lists. Thanks!

Ive not really delved too far into the Timeline feature yet- mostly because of the fluid or spontaneous nature sometimes of a worship service, and that is why Sequential is such a great tool- allowing us the freedom to bounce seamlessly from one scripted scene to another in real-time. So, how would you integrate Timeline into the List? I'd love to hear of a scenario.

Thanks.

I would like to be able to have it just like other cues. I use recorded music for a live performance, and the timeline has lighting cues perfectly synced with the music. I alos use static scenes. Having the ability to add a timeline to the sequential list will make it easier to run a live show with multiple cues.

Is there any news on this subject? Being able to add a complete timeline or even just some media files (audio and/or video) is an absolute "must" for me...

Sequential List is young, with only a few feedback.
We focus more on possible improvements for basic using (just scenes).
We will consider media files once we will be sure the concept of Sequential List is ok.

To know:
- media files in Sequential List might be possible in the future
- regarding timelines in Sequential List, we do not think so

Thank you for this answer, now a second question please... ;)
If/when a media file can be triggered from the sequential list, will it be possible to trigger a scene simultaneously? Then triggering a timeline is no more so important.
And the next question: in this case, if/when a media file is triggered, would the next entry let it run until the end or would it interrupt it? In other words, there should be an option where triggering the next event should not kill the previous one.

In fact I just realize that my wish is probably that the Sequential List would look a lot like a sequence list of "Buttons" - all features included... !
Maybe if you think of it this way, things would become easier to implement ?

BTW, you can count on me to beta-test it at will 8-)

This is indeed too early to talk about details of something which is not in our priority ToDo list.
For sure, it will be easier (faster) to match the Live > Buttons rules.
Noted for the beta testing.

Can I pitch in that I currently prefer the current Sequential List option that each cue overrides the previous? This is a much better system, and lines up with the other professional consoles method of cue stacking. If you want to have a cue NOT turn off the previous cue, may I suggest either overriding it with macro buttons, or perhaps Support, you can simply add an option on each cue in Sequential list to either override the previous cue, or keep the previous one playing?

@Luc Henrion: the current way Sequential List works is designed like a regular cue stack system as used in theatre, and that's the way a lot of us use the Sequential List system. I think the change your looking for could be implemented, but only as an option, not overriding the current way it works

I'm the first to ask for as many options as possible, for sure ! - read my post.
And the current "override" mode is certainly the normal way to use a sequential list, but in the case of an audio and/or video file playing, we should be able to avoid an instant "cut" even when selecting the following entry.
The more I think of it, the more I'm sure that a copy/paste of most current "buttons" features would make a very viable "sequential list"... with a minimum of programming work.
We already have "no loop" and "duration". "Wait for go" is similar to "pause at end". We already have even better features like individual fade in/out time. The optional "release all buttons" more or less already is what I'm asking for. Except that in the Sequential list, the default mode should obviously be what it is now.
