Running and controlling SL and Pangolin on 1 PC

Postby JAN » 23 October 2017, 17:12

Hi,

I would like to know, if and how, to run SL/Quick DMX and Pangolin Quickshow on 1 windows computer and control Pangolin thru Sweetlight??
My PC is fast enough to run both programs simultaniuosly.
Can I send DMX or Midi internaly from SL to Pangolin?
And how?
Or do I needto run them on separate PC's and use an extra DMX to USB interface?

In our software, it is possible to trigger lighting scenes via midi messages.
Internal midi communication can be done via a "virtual midi router".

hello,

it's not working yet..
How do get SweetLight to send midi?
For axample, my SL sends on DMX channels 242 to 256 for Pangolin.
How do I get SL to send and Pangolin to read the Midi?
Loop BE is installed as Midi router.
Do I have to make a patch somewhere?
Or is sweetlight unable to send midi?

Our software only receives midi messages.
Then it can return one midi message for one midi message received (basically used to drive the LED of the midi button).

Hey JAN

From memory Pangolin can receive DMX. I believe you can add Pangolin as a fixture in Sweetlight/ShowXpress and send DMX data from Sweetlight to Pangolin to trigger it. I'm not 100% sure but worth a try.

Yes it can, but we control the lasers by ILDA..
So no DMX..
I bought a little midi controler, Novation Launchpad mini and now i can choose settings and cues tru that..

I do this all the time. I use Midiloop (here's the link: http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html) I use an APC-40 for midi control. In the preferences, I choose APC-40 for MIDI in and MIDIloop for MIDI out. Pangolin side, I set MIDI in to MIDIloop. I use my color buttons to send cues to the laser so everything changes at the same time. looks amazing. Also I made a pannel with a bunch of fader buttons for the parameters such as scan rate, number of pixels, etc. assign these to apc faders, set the midi out to duplicate, pangolin side learn the knob.

Keep trying, you'll get it. control path is APC controls Showxpress, Showxpress controls Quickshow. Good luck!

Thanx all!!
