No APC Mini in MIDI preferences [fixed by Windows Update]

Postby LightningFM » 07 March 2021, 12:10

Hello Support and forumers,
I've recently installed the software on a brand new laptop (Lenovo Ideapad Flex5, Win10 Home).
I am now trying to connect my AKAI APCmini, but I can't find it in the Preferences>Midi tab; opening the Midi device drop-down menu I only see *** None *** or LoopBe Internal MIDI.
I can see the "APC MINI" in the section "Sound, video and game controllers" of the device manager.

The AKAI board si working perfectly with Sweetlight on my main computer.

Any idea?

Thanks!
Flavio

Hello Flavio !

Our software asks the OS for the available midi devices.

If you see the device in the OS Device Manager and you do not see it in our software, we think that another software in your PC takes over the device. Please check that.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I've checked and verified that I don't have any software that to my knowledge could use Midi. There aren't musical production programs or anything like that, so far Sweetlight is effectively the only software I've added.
The only exception to this is LoopBe1, but I downloaded it while trying to troubleshoot the issue.
The APC MINI seen in the Device Manager:

LoopBe could be the problem.
Please try to remove it and restart the PC, and let us know the result.

LoopBe unistalled via the normal Unistall function, PC restarted, board plugged in, started Sweetlight.
No change, other than now having the option *** None *** for MIDI In and "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" on the outputs.

Could you please post a screenshot where you see that "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" ?

In the dropdown menu "Midi device" of the Midi Out section.
Always seen it also on my main computer.

Noted.

We are presently thinking of a possible OS access permission issue.
Please try by running our software "As administrator".

Noted.
We presently do not understand why, when our software asks the OS for the available midi devices, the OS does not list the APC mini.
We keep thinking about this issue, and we will come back to you if we have another idea.
Sorry for that.

BTW, that would be great if you could try with another midi device.
