As you can see in the image, the spinning wheel of death occurs when going to Patch for Dmx and Midi>Midi Input. Right when I click on Midi input the software freezes for a sec then I get the wheel.

I tried downloading this software on another mac and everything worked fine. The only difference between the two macs is the one freezing is running mavericks and the one not freezing is running Lion 10.7.5.

Hope this helps. I will test on more macs to see if I can repeat this process and will get back to you on results.

Thank you for this explaination.

There is a file called "param.ini", in the folder "YourAccountName*/TheLightingController/"
We suspect, for an unknown reason, this file is corrupted.

Can you please post (or email) this file ?

"TheLightingController" folder is attached. Let me know if this is not what you were seeking after.
Thanks!

*I removed fixture images from the zip folder so it was big enough to upload

We see the midi device "Akai APC40" is declared.
We suspect the software crash, when it tries to communicate with this device.

Please try this:
- close V7
- rename the file "param.ini" by "param_old.ini" for instance (this will force V7 to recreate a new "param.ini" file without the midi device
- restart V7, and tell us if the problem still exists

Well I got it to work. Renaming the "param.ini" file and letting it recreate a new one didn't fix the problem. I tried a couple different things and ended up just deleting all traces of the software ("The Lighting Controller" folder and V7 Download) and reinstalled it and now midi menu is popping up ok. Thanks so much for looking into that!

I know I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but never got much of a response. Is MIDI talkback for LIVE something on your radar for V7? Im sure you can tell, but we use midi and its hard to tell which scenes are active on LIVE from the midi controller. If LIVE could communicate back MIDI signals to the controller to let it know when scenes are active and inactive, that would really make a world of a difference for us.

Thanks so much!

Happy to hear it does not crash anymore.

We know that "midi out for Live" is important for several users.
We are studying this for a few days already.
This is not easy, because it must work on both Windows and MacOS.

We presently can not garuanty the success, but be sure we are trying.

One more request or thought.
Making a button or an easier way to reconnect the interface with showxpress without having to restart the software. I don't know how hard that would be but we have had issues with it loosing connection and having to restart the software which causes a 20 second downtime while it reboots and open up Live again.

Yes, a "Connect" / "Disconnect" Button would be nice.

We are not able to do that.

FYI, reboot is not necessary. You just have to kill the running task (ControlBoard.exe for V6 under Windows).
