Hi
When using an mpg format video file as the media source on the timeline, the video plays without any problem in the ScreenControl window on my primary monitor with both audio and video content, and either full screen or in the smaller preview window. However, when trying to view the same media file on a second monitor by using Properties-->ScreenControlSettings-->Screen Mode-->\\.\DISPLAY2 and clicking play on the transport bar, I get audio output but no video output, just a black screen. The same thing happens if I pay the video in the preview window on my main monitor and then drag that to my second screen, I have audio but the video element of the file doesn't display, I just get a black screen.
This only happens when using an mpeg2 format file as the media source file. If I use .mov, .avi or .wmv formats everything works as intended, with video showing on my second monitor in full screen. I've tried several different .mpg files and also on three different PC/monitor setups, all with the same results.
As a further test, I've played the same media file in Windows Media Player in full screen on my second monitor without any problem, and also the same file loaded in to VirtualDJ Pro 8 plays perfectly when output to my second monitor by the software. As the same file plays fine in other software environments I don't think it's a codec issue (I installed the full K-Lite codec pack as well - same results) or a driver issue
For information, the three different setups I've tried are
1 Windows 10 64 bit
2 Windows 7 64 bit
3 Windows 7 32 bit
All systems are fully patched with the latest OS updates and all drivers are up to date with the latest versions. The properties of a sample .mpg file are:
Video
Length 00:004:29
Frame width 720
Frame height 576
Data rate 9500kbps
Total bitrate 9724kbps
Frame rate 25fps
Audio
Bit rate 224kbps
Channels 2 (stereo)
Audio sample rate 48kHz
I've also tried using ShowExpress 7.1.63-150617 and 8.0.45, both giving the same results. I've spoken to tech. support at Chauvet UK today who are as stumped as I am, and they've escalated the issue and also suggested posting here hoping that somebody has a solution.
I'm intending installing ShowExpress in around 30 venues over the course of the winter, and we use literally 100's of existing .mpg video files so converting all of them to a different format sadly isn't an option (it would take forever to re-render them!!!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if any more information Is required please let me know
Thanks
Alan
