"unable to load ...(missing codec)" with WAV file [fixed]

Postby Mprice » 02 September 2014, 06:11

The band I'm in uses multi channel .wav files during our shows along with .avi files for video. I was able to get the .avi video files to load in a video time line and work perfectly, the problem is when I try to load one of our .wav files into the audio timeline I get an error code "unable to load media file(missing codec)"

The .wav files are around 121mb and a bit rate of 4233bps

I just went to 7.1.5 and we use the express 512 interface.

It would be awesome to be able to integrate the .wav files the .avi files with our lights and trigger them all with the click of one button.

Thanks for the help. MP

Try using other .wav files, and maybe also .mp3. Or try reinstalling the software/try on another PC. Normally .wav should work.

We recently found a problem with wav files management (not sure it is linked to your problem, but ...).

Please let us a couple of days to check that.

I had a similar problem, but re-edited all the wave files and repopulated the timeline, and the problem disappeared, however, I still think there is a problem with the loading of the waveform.

John, What did you mean by "re-editing" your .wav files? Becuase we use the .wav files for individual tracks and we need 6 channels of tracks per file we can't use the mp3 format (only 2 tracks/channels). Our .wav files run perfectly on Winamp and Mediaplayer. I have also tried different machines. I started this almost 2 years ago and the timeline feature was the main reason I purchased the showexpress interface. Seeing the Waveform would be great too.

Thanks to all. MP

A little more info. I loaded a 2 channel .wav file and it played just fine the trouble is the multi channel .wav files that we are using. I'm hoping it is a simple fix like finding the codec that is needed and getting it to work with multi channel .wav files. like i said before Winamp and Mediaplayer plays the multi channel .wav files correctly.

Thanks

Hi - sorry did not notice that your tracks were multitrack files. I do not think windows handles them.

After checking, there is a chance that your WAV file requires a missing Codec.
We suggest you to install the free Codec pack K-Lite.

PS: in case of you can check, this should be the same problem with version 6 of our software.

Associate the file with something other than Winamp...

Dear Support,
You nailed it I visited the k-lite site and downloaded the codec software and it all works absolutely perfect. Now the work begins programming.

Thank you for the help. MP
