More BPM/Beat timings

Postby daan44444 » 19 April 2020, 16:14

Hello,

In other software like MyDMX 3.0 there also is an option to play scenes to BPM. The difference with ShowXpress is that there are more timing options. These include the following: 2/1, 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8, 1/12, 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64. The bold timings are not in ShowXpress. Would it be possible to add these timing options to BPM and Beat playback, since it allows for many more complex effects to be programmed?

Thank in advance!

It does contain 16/1, 32/1, etc. But NOT 1/16, 1/32, etc. 32/1 means once every 32 beats. 1/32 means 32 times per beat. I have updated to the latest fix right before posting this comment. Options faster than 1/4 are still not implemented.

With a standard BPM of 120 which gives one beat each 500 ms:

- "1/4" gives one step each 125ms.

- "1/8" gives one step each 62,5 ms
This may be possible with our software (not 100% sure).

- "1/64" gives one step each 7,8 ms.
This requires a software speed refresh of 128 Hz !
Sorry but our software is not able to play steps so fast.

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response. I get that 1/64, 1/32 and 1/16 will be quite fast for the software. Would you be willing to try and implement 1/8, 1/3 and 3/1 speed? The software will definitely be able to handle the thirds and they will allow for some great looking effects. Also, I bet it won't be too much of a programming hassle.
