Request - Speed Properties [done]

Postby djb_554 » 10 December 2018, 06:51

Hello, I've searched the forum and only saw a slightly similar request to mine (4 years ago). :?

I'd like to request in the 'Speed Properties' could you please add 1/2 and 1/4 beat options to the BPM/Beat slider?

1/2 & 1/4 beats would really help keep shutters in time for faster chases (without constantly tapping the BPM in).

16 & 32 beat is rather lazy as I currently just add more steps to colour changes, but they would be a great addition also if you're already looking into updating it. My Application is for Nightclub installs (without LJs) so keeping it simple really helps.

Many Thanks in advanced :)

Just to add... I could really use 1/16, 1/32, and 1/64 if possible.

Very useful when creating strobes/chasing effects, sync'd up with ableton using MIDI.

If you consider a BPM of 120
- the time between 2 taps is 0,5 sec
- with 1/64, the time between 2 taps is 7,8 ms (milliseconds)

And the fastest (theorical) dmx speed is around 40Hz, which means 25 ms between 2 taps.

So we are afraid we will have to wait for the next generation of protocole for communication in lighting equipment ;)

Yes, but I think it works backwards from that? 1/64 would mean the light step would only change after 64 beat clicks?

I want to send 1/16 notes to the beat instead of whole notes. So when I create a 1/1 speed file, I get an 1/16 note speed chase.

I hope that makes sense?
