Button Colour - how to show split colour ?

Postby bones2020 » 12 January 2016, 14:50

I have been watching and few videos users have posted on here and on youtube and I have seen that some users have buttons on they're Live boards that are 2 or 3 colours on the 1 button and also buttons with the shapes of the gobos.

How is this done?

I'm guessing the Gobos are pics of the gobos then uploaded to button but how do I get the split colours on the buttons, can this be done in the software.

If someone could explain that would be great.

Thanks in advance
Steve

The split color is also a picture, like the shape of the gobo.

Would it be possible to just have a option in the software/V8 in the pop up window when selecting button colour to make button colour 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 then select each colour you want instead of having to upload a pic.

We do not see how to do that easily, regarding the GUI.

How about 3 check boxes down the right hand side of the colours popup window with option
Colours per button
2
3
4
Once whatever number of colours is checked, you can then select that many of colourss from the colours grid

If no box is checked... The software deflauts to only 1 colours

Also the button would have 2, 3 or 4 strips of colour on it

Hum !
The color window is the native color window from the OS. It is not possible to modify it.
So we have to add another "middle" window to put these check boxes, so not so easy !
We will wait for more comments to see if really important.

This is actually VERY easy. I am one of the users you mentioned who has many split-color buttons. While I originally created small images of various colors in a graphic design program, I've since found a far easier method. Just google a description of what you seek...maybe a red/cyan split color, for example. Ask Google for "red/cyan stripes", then select images. If you find one that suits you, download it and use the simple image editor of your computer to crop it as desired, then save it where ShowX can access it. Next, right-click the desired button and insert the cropped image as an image background. No need to bother the designers for code changes on something as simple as this...
