Pixel Effect's Center

Postby jwhite » 29 December 2016, 13:22

I am using 4 freedom sticks. I would like to use the rainbow effect from center, but it seems showxpress selects the 3rd stick as "center". This results in a non symmetric show. It is possible to have an even amount of fixtures and still have symmetry with effects from center?

I am using them in the vertical position, so I would think when using the rainbow effect from center, 1 and 4 would be the same while 2 and 3 would be the same. Currently you can clearly see the center is focused on 3 which is off center.

We double-checked the existing personality file ; it looks correct.
The reason is an effect can not be centered to a non existing point.

I think is what he's trying to say is;

Imagine a grid of 4x4 pixels, now the center is the pixel 3 across and 2 down.

This is what your program does to make a pixel grid, but it makes real pixelmapping incredibly hard because circle effects always start off center. What he wants (and I'd like to see it too) is that all the center pixels would be the actual center in the pixel mapping feature in your software itself.

@jwhite please confirm this is what you're trying to say.

@BartKrap you are correct.

I have attached two basic photos to show you the challenge of circular effects when using an even number of pixels.
