Showxpress Crashing

Postby slate83 » 10 April 2017, 10:07

Running Showxpress v.8.2.18 with Xpress 512 dmx controller. Using laptop HP Pavilion dv7, Windows 10 Home Edition (64 bit), Intel Core i5 - 2.5 Ghz, 8GB RAM, 500 GB HDD. Showxpress crashes upon opening and intermittently crashes in the middle of a show or scene set up.

Do I need to switch to a Mac to improve stability? Is there a fix for the crashing issue in Windows?

Thanks.

We played a bit with your lightshow under Windows (only 2 buttons in Live), without crash.
Please tell us how to reproduce the crash.

Thank you for taking a look at it. The only way I know how to tell you to reproduce the crash is to open Showxpress with the Xpress 512 connected. I have experienced the crash at that point and intermittently when attempting to execute the "Jump-Runaway" live button that contains the media file.

Please try without the media file and let us know.
(you can for instance rename the media file, then the software will not find it)

We have experienced ShowXpress crashing after about 12 minutes or so this past Sunday. We are using the Chauvet Xpress 512 on a Windows 7 machine. To remedy the issue, I updated the software to the latest version along with the new drivers. This did not help. I also replaced the USB cable and the DMX cable. Still no better. Last week, Windows 7 had an update that I suspect has caused this to crash. Any ideas?

I just sent a video showing the crash as well as the light show and a screenshot of the ShowXpress about screen listing the version. Please advise.

Thank you for your lightshow and the video.
However it seems we are not able to reproduce the problem.
So, can you please answer to the following questions :
- Can you please try to reproduce with no DMX interface connected
- In the video, it is difficult to see if the crash occurs when you are clicking on the Live button or with no action on your side
- Did the crash always occurs after about 12 minutes ?

Thanks for the reply. I detached the DMX interface, opened the program and it still crashed. The crash happens with no action on my part. Yes, the crash happens around 12 minutes every time.
