Auto BPM Not working with Windows 10 Laptop?

Postby ineedabeatdj » 22 September 2015, 02:04

I have the latest showxpress version .63 on my DJ laptop running windows 7 and everything works fine. At last weeks gig I brought my laptop from work, a Lenovo G50-80. The auto BMP did not register on the screen at all? I had to run the show without the auto BMP. When I got back to work the next day, I checked all of the mic settings and everything seems to be working. When I tap on the laptop, you see the decibels turn green and bounce up and down with each tap on the Recording Devices - Sound - Recording Windows Tab. I also went to properties - Levels tab and made sure the mic was turned wide open in both settings. Even with it wide open, when you go back into showxpress, nothing registers on the auto BPM. My laptop does have the single combo Mic/Headphone jack. It doesn't have 2 separate jacks. I'm not sure if this is the problem? I also reinstalled the audio drives from my laptop website and there was no change. Does anyone know what this could be?

Thanks for any help!

To plug a microphone on a single combo Mic/Headphone jack, you need an adapter like this one :

So you're saying my mic won't work unless I plug in a microphone to the jack?

You have to use this kind of adapter only if you use an external microphone.
If something is plugged on the jack, the internal microphone is disabled.

OK. I may have to try it with an external microphone, because no sound registers from the internal mic when nothing is plugged in to the jack for some reason.

For the internal microphone to work, may be you have to open the "recording mixer" in Windows and activate the microphone ?

What about the levels if you right click on the microphone then choose "properties" then go to tab "Levels" ?

To get it to work, I had to purchase a audio y-splilter that separates the audio signal into 1 channel for the mic, and 1 channel for the headset. I had to plug it in then plug a microphone into the mic input. Once I did that, the sound started registering in showxpress. When all of this is unplugged, the sound does not register with showxpress, no matter what I tried. So obviously this has something to do with the laptop audio jack being a combo jack, and not having a separate jack for speakers and the microphone. I'm not sure if that is something that needs to be worked out in the showxpress programming or not, but a lot of laptops are coming out with the single jack lately.
