request - new GUI

THE PROBLEM:
If you have a number of fixtures that use a large number of channels it can be difficult to program an ordered sequence of step as you have to scroll left and right alot to find the correct channel. There are too many irrelevant channels in the way.

SUGGESTED FEATURE TO HELP:
Have an option to hide (1) all non-active channels, and (2) hide any individual channel. With a "show all" button to revert back to showing all channels.

In combination with this, it would be very helpful to have a grid of input fields where the faders currently are. The grid would show each step as a scrollable list, and only a channel value box for the shown channels. This way you can very quickly enter the values and see the patterns in the numbers.

Please see the attached image to help understand the idea.

Many thanks
Gary

Thank you for this nice picture, but the option to hide all non-active channels is already existing ; it is the vertical tab with the name "Used".

Regarding the grid of input fields, the problem is the new fixtures have more and more levels. We regularely see fixtures with more than 100 levels in a channel. This is why we propose the levels only in a popup menu (when you click into the black square area above the fader).

The existing "USED" tab only hides fixtures that have no channels active, not the inactive channels themselves. This leaves all inactive channels of used fixtures on screen when editing in steps.

The white boxes on my diagram are text input fields to enter DMX values 0-255 (much the same as the number above the fader in the regular steps editor). The big difference being you can see all the relevant steps/values on one screen, which makes creating patterns & sequences much, much easier.

I have redesigned my diagram slightly to make it clearer and to include step duration and SNAP and FADE options.

Yes, you are right.
Noted.

And thank you for your nice drawing. It gives us ideas. Not for V9 because too big change, but for the next major software version.
