[Request] Multi-Head control: Control multiple channels

Postby SeekLighting » 23 December 2018, 11:56

Hi Support,

Could we please have a change to the Multi-head section of the Fixture editor.

When setting the function of a channel, there is a drop down box in the top right of the screen that allows you to select which of 1-10 heads of the fixture the channel controls. Or alternatively, it allows you to select "All", controlling all the heads.

I propose changing this drop down box to a CHECKBOX system, allowing (for instance), a user to create a fixture profile where a channel can control (for example), just heads 1-4, or perhaps just channels 2,4 and 6, but not all.

Please let me know if this change is possible to implement.

There are many fixtures where a channel can control portions of the fixture, but not the entire thing.

Here are some examples:

Blizzard HypnoBeam - https://www.fullcompass.com/common/file ... Manual.pdf

There are two rings, each with individual RGB control, and a centre light. For the purposes of my example, this means there are three "heads".
1) The centre light
2) The inner ring
3) The outer ring.

In 23 channel mode, channels 1-5 control "all" heads, because it controls the Pan/tilt of the whole fixture.
Channels 6-11 control the colour, intensity and shutter of the centre light (head 1)
Channels 12-14 control the RGB values of the inner ring (head 2)
Channels 15-17 control the RGB values of the outer ring (head 3)
HOWEVER, channels 18-21 control the intensity, shutter and colour macros of BOTH rings (heads 2 and 3)

Implementing the change I suggested would allow for a more accurate control, and representation in 3D view, of this fixture.

Chauvet Maverick MK Pyxis - https://www.chauvetprofessional.com/wp- ... ev1_WO.pdf

Another moving head with a centre light, and a ring, with the ring further divided in to 10 pixels. There is also a background light, meaning a total of 12 heads.
1) The centre light
2-11) The pixels of the ring
12) The background light

In 66 channel mode:
Channels 1-7 control the pan/tilt of the whole fixture, thereby controlling "all" heads
Channel 7 controls the colour temperature of the centre light (head 1)
Channel 9 controls colour macros for the entire ring (heads 2-11)
Channels 10-14 control the colour and intensity of the centre light (head 1)
Channel 15-16 control the colour and intensity of the background light (head 12)
Channel 17 controls the intensity of the entire ring (heads 2-11)
Channel 18 controls the intensity of the centre light (head 1)
Channel 19 controls the shutter of the entire ring (heads 2-11)
Channel 20 controls the shutter of the centre light (head 1)
Channel 21 controls the zoom of the centre light (head 1)
Channel 22 controls the system functions of the entire fixture (all heads)
Channels 23-26 control the RGBW values of the centre light (head 1)
Channel 27-66 control the RGBW values of each individual pixel head (heads 2-11 individually)

Implementing the change I suggested would allow for a more accurate control of a higher end professional fixtures of this type, as well as a more accurate representation in 3D View.

Epsilon Duo Beam Bar - https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... drive_open

This moving light has two moving heads on one fixture, but each moving head has 4 individual lights on it, meaning a total of 8 heads.

Channels 1-2 control the tilt and tilt speed of the first moving head (heads 1-4)
Channels 3-4 control the tilt and tilt speed of the second moving head (heads 5-8)
Channels 5-12 control the individual intensity of each light (heads 1-8 individually)
Channel 13 controls the master dimmer of all lights (all heads)
Channel 14 controls effect macros of the whole fixture (all heads)
Channel 15 controls the effect macro speed of the whole fixture (all heads)
Channel 16 controls the shutter of every light (all heads)

Implementing the change I suggested would allow for a more accurate control of a fixture of this type, as well as a more accurate representation in 3D View.
