Problem with moving fixture addresses

Postby chibbert » 01 July 2014, 00:27

Here's a strange sequence:

Create new show.
In Fixtures, add a fixture. Assign to DMX #1.
Flip to to Steps tab.
Adjust sliders for fixture.
Go back to Fixtures tab and move the fixture to a different location.
Go back to Steps tab.
The fader sliders in bottom left still show the fixture in its original DMX #1 location.

I understand now that I need to click "save DMX addressing" after moving a fixture, but this is new behavior in v7 and initially confusing.

When leaving the Fixtures panel, there needs to be a reminder dialog. Something like, "Do you want to save the changed DMX addresses?"

It should probably also say, "Warning: All programming for moved fixtures will be useless."

Noted.

FYI: presently, the first reminder dialog appears when you quit the software.

BUMP.
Please fix this issue or at least warn users that their edited channels wont move with the fixture.

"Do you want to save the changed DMX addresses?" is asked when you change tab.

"Warning: all existing programming for moved fixtures will be useless" will be added with the above message.

Agree with above. If you move your fixture address in fixtures tab, all programming should update to reflect the new addresses to avoid re programming everything from scratch.

Been waiting for this feature since release of version 6.

V6 was the muli-OS version.
V7 was the "single window" version.
V8 will be the "new engine" version, which will include the "true dmx patching".

FYI, "true dmx patching" requires to rewrite the major part of the source code.

Sounds intresting ;)
