out of topic ! DMX 6 channel console issue

Postby Luc Henrion » 23 April 2017, 16:36

I know it has nothing to do with Sweetlight but maybe someone here could help anyway...
I came across a very, very strange issue: I own a little 6 channel DMX console that I use sometimes for very simple setups: just a few PC or Fresnel on a Dimmer bar for example.
And it works. No need for a computer in this case you'll admit.
But now I wanted to add a pair of brand new LED (60W) mini-profile (in 1 channel mode) and they simply don't respond to DMX. They DO, perfectly well, with my USB dongle and Sweetlight, they work just fine also with a simple 36 channel console, but they don't with the 6 channel... I tried everything: going thru a splitter/booster, changing the cables, putting a DMX terminator. No way. Any clue ???
Thank you all.

How many dmx channels does the led fixture use? Did you put it on adress 001?

It can be 1,2 or 3 channels, I put it on 1 ch mode, and tried DMX address 1, 2 and 3... Really strange since it works perfectly with my other console or the USB dongle. Are there some "variations" on the DMX standard ??? Some tolerances ?

No, I checked the polarity, it is the same everywhere...
I can't imagine another hardware issue... maybe insufficient current coming out of the little console? I suppose there is 6 volts, this is ez to check, but how can I check the current?
