Nb interfaces = 1 error on software startup

Postby Bob Green » 30 April 2013, 10:14

Hi I have this error on a new system

Here is my setup
Computer: HP 8300 23" AIO TOUCH I3-3220 4GB 500GB WIN7 PRO 64Bit (with USB3)

Chauvet Xpress 512 PLUS

And Dfi Wireless sender reciever

I have followed the instructions carefully after a factory reinstall of the computer and no other software installed. I installed the showexpress software (V6.32) THEN connected the 512 plus as in the instructions. (note the PC Link Light does NOT light up as it says it should in the instructions) I then ran the software but got the Nb interfaces = 1 error on software startup. I made sure that I am using the 64bit Drivers by removing the existing drivers and reinstalling the downloaded drivers from the Drivers-V1.04-V1.06\Drivers V1.04 & V1.06 (digitally signed)\64bits\i386 directory.

Please help with this, I cant see where I am going wrong.
Bob

In order to know if the interface has a problem or not, can you please check it with another computer ?

Hello, I can try that tomorrow, I do not have a similar machine but I have an older XP machine I can try it on. I am confused by the i386 folder within the 64bit folder.
Drivers-V1.04-V1.06\Drivers V1.04 & V1.06 (digitally signed)\64bits\i386
Is this the correct driver for my 64bit system? It appear to install and is listed within the device manager without an error.

For 32bits OS, select folder 32bits.
For 64bits OS, select folder 64bits.

For 32bits OS, select folder 32bits.
For 64bits OS, select folder 64bits.

Of course. but within 64bit folder there is amd64 and i386 folders.

I have tested the unit with an old Xp machine and it has tested OK. What to try next?

You can try with another Windows7 64bits computer, on all existing usb ports (usb2 and usb3).

We made several tests, and there is a chance that we found the problem of these usb3.0 ports.
We made a workaround, in our source code.

Please try this:
1. open your software folder (something like "../YourSoftware/")
2. rename the file "efk_usb.dll" by "efk_usb_original.dll"
3. copy this file http://download.thelightingcontroller.c ... fk_usb.dll , in the software folder.
In other words, we ask you to rename the existing DLL file, and to use a new one, which should fix the usb3.0 problem.

And please tell us if it works now.

I confirm it is working. I try it on my news computer from Windows 7 with USB3 port, and I had the same message.
The new dll fix it and all is right.

Thank for your work.
