100 xpress

Hi, sure would be nice of Chauvet to eliminate the 100 channel restriction on this device. As a loyal Chauvet customer and supporter with 1,000s in fixtures, I must say I feel slighted by the built in limitation. There are no hardware limitations, just a Showexpress software feature limitation for Chauvet people who bought 300$ USB cable interface. I know you might have to change the name of the device, but thats ok. as far as marketing, it does not store any shows, and must have a computer to drive any show. Thanks for listening!

PS, there are 99$ USB DMX interfaces with 512 DMX channels on the market!, Also, i see that retailers offer xpress 100 for 200$ now, a good change indeed.

+1

And yes... 100 channels its ENOUGH for mobile entretainment... BUT!!!! You can do a lot if you expand the numer of fixtures... example... in my case.. in mobile entertainment i use A LOT of LED PARCANs... 4 channels per fixture... so i can control, technically, 25 of them... in my event the MAX is 15... so i have 40 channels remaining for... idk... a pair of mobile heads or some atmospheric effects!

100 channels is ENOUGH??? really, that is not the point of the post. so be happy with your limited application that does not need more.

Read again please my application. I use basic fixtures, A LOT OF THEM... so... ok... lets have 100 channels... but something that doesnt makes sense its the restriction of only 10 FIXTURES!!!!!!!!!

even a mobile DJ doesnt use only 10 fixtures...

and if you request its UNLIMITED FIXTURES + MORE CHANNELS... So.. there is the D512 my opinnion about this topic its to eliminate the restriction of 10 fixtures.

It is easy to overcome the 10 fixture issue. For example if you have 5 led parcans of 4 (RGBDim) channels each, create 1 fixture of 20 channels(RGBDimRGBDimRGBDimRGBDimRGBDim). I have grouped fixtures for certain clients this way. Also note that 3D-view is not possible with the cable connected, so I then create the actual fixtures from dmx 201 and then use the Dmx patch 1=1+201, 2=2+201 and so on. This gives us full 3D view as well. Hope this helps.
