USB to DMX Cable not Installing correctly.

Postby NVass » 29 December 2014, 07:13

I recently purchased the USB to DMX cable. I have tried to install the drivers on 3 different computers. Windows 7 Laptop Windows 7 Desktop and Windows 8.1 Laptop.

All three fail and when checking in the Device Manager the cable appears under Other devices wit its yellow triangle.

I have downloaded the drivers from this forum, deleted and manually installed on all three computers and get the same results.

The USB socket seems very loose when you plug it in but its must be making contact as it is trying to install the drivers.

Do you have any other suggestions. I have look through this forum and cannot see anything else to try.

Finally do you have a distributor anywhere in/near Thailand as its going to take a long time to return the cable to the UK where it was purchased and I need to get my DMX setup working quickly.

Thanks

Neil

Please try this:
- download, unzip, and run this program http://download.thelightingcontroller.c ... EW.EXE.zip
- plug your interface Cable
- select "refresh" in the main menu of the program
- locate the new device listed in the right section
- click on the new device in the right section
Then you should see its details in the left section.
Post (or email to us) the screenshot of the program window.

This screenshot shows us that, in the usb side, your interface works correctly.
So you do not need to change it by another one.

In our opinion, it is just a problem of driver installation.

Thanks for that, but what should I try next. I have removed and re-installed the software. no change.

I thought the the cable should auto install and failing that I should be able to use the files from this forum! (drivers.zip)

When I use the 64 bit files and follow your instructions I get this:

and its the same on all 3 of my computers!

Any more suggestions please

The auto-install is supposed to work correctly, otherwise we will receive thousands of complains in this forum.

You system wants to install the generic driver "USB serial port". This usually happen when you plug the interface, before installing the software. And then if you answer "yes", when the system propose you this driver, the damage is done.
Now, this is more complex ; you have to force the system to replace the "USB serial port" driver by our driver. This option is available in the "Update driver" procedure.
