Requirement: importing external 3D objects option

It might be very important to have the ability to import a CAD or Visio import in the future. This way, I could take the drawing file and import it directly into 3D to begin working on a new lighting plot and setups.

3DView reads OBJ files.
OBJ is a standard format for 3D objects, which CAD software can generate.
However, unlike a CAD software, 3DView must refresh the view one time for each beam, and this 20 times per second. This means 200 times per second with 10 moving lights. So all 3D objects must be very light (usually less than 10Kb each), so there is no way to import a CAD files which usually makes a lot of megabytes.

How about coverting it to just the stage and objects in that lower format?

This job has to be done from the CAD software, but it requires a good knowledge of 3D objects structure, in order to know how to make the 3D objects lighter.
All CAD software can do this. We think we have other more important features to add, than to redo a 3D objects converter that many other software do already well.
