Mavericks - App Nap

Postby support » 30 October 2013, 15:30

Mavericks has introduced a new "smart" way to save power with running applications, called "App Nap".

Applications in OS X Mavericks go into the "App Nap" state, when hidden from view. After around 30s hidden from view, "App Nap" automatically disables the timers (dmx) of our software, in order to save power. The OS is supposed to detect the apps who must not be put in "App Nap" state, but it does not work with our software (and several other software).

In the meantime, here's how you can disable App Nap, for a particular application in OS X Mavericks:
- right-click (or press key 'ctrl' + left click) on the program* to open the popup menu
- select the "Get Info" option
- check the box "Prevent App Nap"

* you must do this for all programs:
Version 6: ControlBoard, 3DView/3DView, Editor/Editor, Live/Live, Pixels/Pixels, ScreenControl/ScreenControl, Setup/setup
Version 7: TheLightingController

Version 7.1.5 forces "App Nap" to not disable our software timers (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3190).
